Official Synopsis
KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is an epic adventure about a common man who finds himself thrust into a decades-long war. A stranger in a strange land, he serves a doomed king, falls in love with an exotic and forbidden queen, and rises to knighthood. Ultimately, he must protect the people of Jerusalem from overwhelming forces – while striving to keep a fragile peace. From Ridley Scott, the master of the modern epic.

Summary
The film, which takes place in the 12th century during the time of the Crusades, will be staged on a scale that Scott described as being slightly larger than "Gladiator," his Oscar-winning epic.
Bloom will play Balian of Ibelin, a blacksmith, who becomes a knight in order to defend Jerusalem against the crusaders, saves a kingdom and falls in love with Sibylla, the princess of Jerusalem, played by Eva Green.
